The Rivalry 1992 - 1993

Northampton is named the number one team in the nation. Nazareth finishes 22-2 with both losses coming to Northampton and finishes 5th in the country.

Nazareth loses the dual meet to Northampton 23-26 and in the District Duals semi-final 19-32. Considering the close dual meet and fact that no other match was lost by Nazareth, it is hard to believe the teams met in the semi-finals (Nazareth defeated Easton 49-12 in the dual meet).

Nazareth finishes second to Northampton in the Bethlehem Christmas City Tournament, District XI Tournament, Regional Tournament, and as the AAA Top Dual meet team.

Christmas City Tournament (278-243.5) Northampton over Nazareth, Freedom is 3rd (135.5).

District XI Tournament (216-194) Northampton over Nazareth, Easton is 3rd (116).

Northeast Regionals (141-117) Northampton over Nazareth, Easton is 3rd (76).

PIAA State AAA Tournament, Northampton (68), Hampton (48.5), Canon-McMillan (43.5), and Nazareth (43).

Northampton wins states and Nazareth is 4th.

From Ted Meixell's March 1, 1993 article:

This year's 22-2 club, whose only losses were to Northampton, is extremely young; it will graduate only four starters.

While the K-Kids are ranked No. 1 in the area, the state and, by USA Today, the nation, the Blue Eagles are No. 2 locally and in the state -- and No. 6 in the country.
